Chicago's Iconic Ferris Wheel Calls It Quits After 20 Years
  • 9 years ago
Ending a 20-year stretch, the iconic Ferris wheel at Chicago's Navy Pier was closed over the weekend. It will be replaced by a taller Ferris wheel in 2016.

One of Chicago's most recognizable landmarks just shuttered its doors.
The Ferris wheel at Navy Pier spun its last cycle before closing at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 27th.
To commemorate the bittersweet occasion, there was no charge for rides most of the weekend and free t-shirts were handed out as well.
