Plot: Anand (Kishore Kumar), a Punjabi, hails from Jalandhar, and shifts to New Delhi. Here, he searches for a house on rent, but is unable to find one, as no one is ready to give a house on rent to a different caste. Anand, seeking no other option, disguises himself as a South Indian and calls himself Anand Kumarswamy. He soon gets a place to live in with a South Indian family. Here, he comes in contact with Janki (Vyjayanthimala), daughter of the South Indian Cultural Association Head. Soon the two fall in love and Anand, with great efforts, discloses his true identity to Janki. Will the two family's agree for this wedding?
