Time-Lapse Footage Captures Stunning Perseid Meteor Shower

Time-lapse footage captured the images of the Perseid meteor shower in August in Maine. The Perseids are known for producing explosions of light and color that streak through the sky and are commonly known as “fireballs.” The annual showers coincide with the Earth’s passage through debris left by comet Swift-Tuttle. Up to 100 meteors per hour were present at the peak, some travelling up to 37 miles (59 kilometres) per second, according to NASA. Credit: YouTube/sebeclakewebcam
