Peru: Shougang Mine Workers Strike Enters 4th Day

A strike by Peruvian mine workers from the Shougang company entered its fourth day on Thursday. The union demands a US$2.50 wage hike, as opposed to the US$0.15 offered by management, that the salaries of newly hired workers be matched to those with longer employment, and that workers and the communities receive a greater share of the transnational's profits. The workers accuse Shougang, which has the largest iron mine concession in Peru, with union busting tactics. Rael Mora reports from Lima. teleSUR
