The execution of Abdul Basit, a wheelchair-bound prisoner in Pakistan, has been temporarily delayed.
Authorities postponed the hanging as they are unsure of how to carry one out on a person who can’t stand on his own.
The country’s capital punishment procedures require that individuals sentenced to death be standing while on the gallows. 
Though Basit is a paraplegic now, he was not upon his arrival to the prison.
Meningitis contracted while imprisoned rendered him paralyzed from the waist
