Apple's latest update to its mobile software is apparently causing a stir - and not a good one.
Many Apple customers on social media and within online forums are reporting that apps on their devices are crashing when they update their operating system to iOS 9, the latest version of the software that powers iPhones and iPads.
It hearkens back to problems with the update to iOS 8 last year, which caused certain devices to experience buggy Wi-Fi and decreased battery life .
"The big picture here though is that this is the standard environment for a new operating system launch," said Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.
Since Apple's official iOS 9 launch, as 8 a.m. PT Friday, the adoption rate of the new operating system is a little more than 20 percent, according to Mixpanel , a third-party mobile analytics firm.
