Zara owner Inditex reports sales jump on Asian growth
- 9 years ago
Zara owner Inditex said sales rose 17pc to €9.42bn in the first half of the year, as the group stepped up its presence in Asia.
The Spanish clothing company, which is the largest fashion retailer in the world , launched online businesses in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan this year, to strengthen e-commerce sales in the fast-growing Asian economies.
The group, which also owns Pull & Bear, Bershka, and Massimo Dutti, added 94 new stores in the six months to the end of July, bringing total store count to 6,777.
While other high-street retailers struggle to keep pace with unseasonable weather, Inditex's "fast fashion" approach means it can respond quicker to consumer trends.
