Gerakan brings forward party polls

The Gerakan party polls which was initially postponed until next year would be carried out this year instead, announced party secretary-general Chia Kwang Chye today.
Notices would be sent out beginning today and branch level elections would have to be conducted by June 16, followed by the division (July 28) and state elections (Sept 19), he said.
On Jan 12, the party�s central working committee (CWC) had postponed the elections from 2008 to 2009 to avoid a possible clash with the general elections. The CWC reversed the decision on April 27.
