Part 3: An Exclusive Interview with Dr Farish A. Noor

The March 8 which has been described as the political tsunami by many analyst provided the life line for the nation building efforts in Malaysia. In the 13th General Elections, the voting trend showed theres light at the end of the tunnel.

Among the most obvious trend is voting beyond the racial line which sprung the opposition front to a record over 80 seats in Parliament.

As this racial line begins to fade away, there comes a bigger obstacle for Malaysians, sectarianism.

Quite succinctly put, sectarianism politics taking prominence in Malaysia. However, the truth remains to be seen how far the dominance of religious based ideologies will thrive in Malaysia.

In this final part of Agendakini's exclusive interview with Dr Farish Noor, we also ask him to cite examples of other countries that have been successful in their nation-building exercises.

Countries that started similarly as Malaysia during the post-colonial era and which have overcome the various hurdles of nation-building through strong political leadership.
