Indira Park is located in the heart of twin cities, India. Indira Park is a public green space park in the heart of Hyderabad, India It’s located very adjacent to famous Hussain Sagar Lake. It’s named after the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and it’s among the oldest parks. It occupies an acre of 76 acres of lush green landscape. This park is famous for award winning rock garden which was designed by civic authorities of Hyderabad. This rock garden has an area of 2 acres and apart from this other recreational facilities were also planned. It contains a lake within the park with fresh cleaned water which also has the boating facilities. It also has a manmade desert.
It’s a hot pick for the morning walkers and joggers. This park has been especially designed and landscaped keeping the natural plantations untouched. Indira Park is a lot used by people on Sundays as they relax from madding crown and city life. Families, university girls of Indian and boys come here for picnic. Sandalwood tresses are also spotted in the park for a better look of it.
The beauty of this park is also preserved through rose garden. The park has been a center of agitations by various strata of the society since early 2000. Rallies or sit-ins have been organized towards achieving goals by dalit rights groups, auto rickshaws unions, students and teachers, political leaders ,and others. On an average, three such rallies are given permission by the local authorities.

Due to these rallies, normal life has been affected. Mainly school children, college students and medical emergencies get affected because of the traffic that is caused by people congregating for these rallies. Though the local police designs a plan for the participants, their inability to control their movement results in traffic jams. Due to this infamy, the local media satirically proposed new names such as Dharna Chowk, "Dharnagunj" and "Dharnaguda" to Domalguda, the area that houses the park. In spite of a ban on such rallies in the arterial routes of the city, the local police remained ineffective in enforcing this. for women is also provided, for the security and the privacy of women, the Fitness Centre for women is totally covered from all the sides. Where women feel free, comfort and ease for exercise. A Training Centre is also provided for this purpose where training is given for fitness and health to the new youngsters coming to the gym. A very beautiful study hall is provided in the park.
