Democrats tally enough support to block Iran vote

Democrats now have the 41 senators they need to block a vote to reject the Iran nuclear deal.
Democratic Sens. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Gary Peters of Michigan and Ron Wyden of Oregon announced Tuesday that they will support the deal, denying Republicans the 60 votes they needed to move forward with a resolution disapproving the deal.
President Obama should now be able to avoid having to veto the resolution since his allies can block it in the Senate.
Obama would only need 34 Senate votes to uphold his veto if the resolution were to ever get to his desk.
The House is still expected to pass the disapproval resolution this week.
The pact would lift economic sanctions against Iran in exchange for Tehran agreeing not to develop a nuclear bomb.
