Around 40 activists opposed to a high-speed railway between the Italian city of Turin and Lyon, in southeastern France, stormed the construction site on Saturday night (Sept. 5), Italian news agency ANSA reported.

The “No Tav” (“No Treno Alta Velocità”, or “No high-speed train”) activists clashed with police, lighting firecrackers and hurling stones at them, ANSA said, adding that eight people had been arrested in Italy.
