Vuelta a Espana: Lindeman wins stage seven as Froome loses time on title rivals

Bert-Jan Lindeman won the first mountain test in this year’s Vuelta.
The Dutchman survived from an early break to cross the line first in La Alpujarra to win stage seven.
The day’s ride was a 191 kilometre trek starting in the Southern city of Jodar.
Lindeman was one of a five man break that attacked the main bunch as early as 30 kilometres in.
The move reached a healthy 13 minute gap as the peloton seemed unconcerned after a few tough days in the saddle.
Out in front the battle was on.
Belarusian Ilia Koshevoy made an attempt for a solo victory but Lindeman was quick to react and then saved his best until the final 200 metres.
The Team LottoNL-Jumbo rider showed his experience and strength to power past his young rival and take the victory.
Chris Froome and Tejay van Garderen were the most noteworthy casualties on the final climb losing time to Colombia’s overall leader Esteban Chaves, who retained a 10 second advantage over Dutchman Tom Dumoulin.
