Inside the Americas – The Mothers of Soacha
  • 9 years ago
The Mothers of Soacha are mothers, wives and sisters of 19 young men killed by the Colombian Army. In late 2007 they began to disappear from Soacha, Colombia, a poor district on the outskirts of Bogota. In September of 2008, their bodies appeared in a mass grave over 200 miles away. The discovery sparked what later became known as the “false positives” scandal, in which civilians were killed and reported as guerrilla casualties. The boys’ mothers along with other victims of Colombia’s long conflict now come together in a sewing club to heal their pain and demand justice for their loved ones. teleSUR
