The first hybrid Maruti will be launched in India on 1st September and it would be a new version of its Ciaz sedan. Named as Ciaz SHVS, it would be one of the most fuel-efficient cars to be produced in the country with a mileage of close to 30kmpl. The Cia hybrid will have Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki or SHVS technology built into it along with the 1.3-liter multijet diesel engine.

The SHVS technology was first showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and it uses regenerative braking to charge the on board lithium-ion battery. Apart from the addition of the hybrid engine, the car will also get some minor changes to its interior. The plan is to replace the conventional diesel Ciaz with this hybrid version and thus, it would be made available across all diesel trim levels.
