Leo Sayer's Hotel Fire Story

At 19, Sayer almost died in a hotel fire in Brighton, England.
"I was the hall porter and they told me to get the guests out. That's quite a thing to experience at that age – death at such close range. It made me realise the value of friendship and kindness and I learned how to feel very gracious about things that so many take for granted. I nearly lost my life".
