Israel-Hamas truce broken

Israel ordered its negotiators back from ceasefire talks in Cairo, Egypt and launched at least four air strikes in Gaza yesterday after several rockets were launched from Gaza into southern Israel.

Hundreds of Palestinians streamed out of Shejaiya, an eastern area of Gaza City which has been devastated by more than a month of fighting between Israel and the militant Islamist Hamas movement.
