Despite facing criticisms former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has defended his remarks that Malays are lazy. According to him he stands by the stetement and if people don't like it then so be it.

Mahathir has in recent days been accused of racial stereotyping after he made disparaging remarks about the Malay community on Tuesday.
