Sea Shepherd activists convicted of disrupting whale hunt

A Faroe Islands court has convicted five members of the Sea Shepherd conservation group of disrupting a regional whale hunt.
They were arrested in July as they attempted to stop and document the annual pilot whale cull.
The activists were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 670 euros, or eight days in prison, to more than 4,500 euros or fourteen days in prison.
The court also fined Sea Shepherd 10,000 euros.
The activists – from Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and South Africa – will reportedly appeal.
