Study: Segregation Still Exists In America But In Different Form

A new study has found that segregation is still happening in America but in a different form.

In some ways, racial differences seem to be less pronounced in the U.S., especially with the first African-American president in office.

However, a recent study has found that while racial segregation is decreasing among urban neighborhoods, it is on the rise in suburbs and the metropolitan areas located between suburbs and their closest city.

So instead of diverse groups carving out pockets of a broad area, the American Sociological Association explains in a press release that “major cities and suburban communities are becoming increasingly racially homogenous.”
