USA: Detained Women Immigrants Describe Conditions

Congressional Democrats held a forum in Washington on the status and conditions of women immigrants and their children held in detention centers. Conditions in such centers, run by for-profit corporations, were described by detainees as deplorable. Mental health specialists warn that the well-being of the 1,700 women and their children held in the three detention centers is being endangered. Calls have been raised demanding their closure.
