Akirahawks is truly the yin to Shingo Suwa's yang – a meeting of two fine Japanese minds, expatriated in Berlin. Together they form the fine-tuned force behind the House Mannequin imprint, hold equally heavyweight residents at Berlin's ://about blank; and – newsflash – now coalesce as Love Comedy, their latest tag-team as artists.
The Love Comedy project is another classic case of well-channelled balance: a blend of Akira's mastery over cosmic disco and Suwa's deeper lines into acid and techno. Their first EP as LC is therefore a triumph of combined worlds – a solid four-tracker with ounces of groove. Our pick of the bunch is "Zenon Classic", a dark disco stomper that's all chug, no chintz.
