The Zilla Project is a 6-year-old, 4-piece band playing its version of the blues with many allusions to all styles of American music. They deliver electrified versions of well-known blues classics as well as their original compositions, in a energetic and super charged 2 hour set.
They consist of “Big Mo” a.k.a Emmanuel Vourakis on vocals and electric guitars, Nikolas “Honeyman” Melis on the keys, Lou Pafitis on bass and Stefanos “Medicine Man” Meletiou on the drums. The band has been performing all over the major cities of Cyprus, in major festivals, big and small clubs and has Nicosia as their home base. They have just released their first official album “This one’s for the President”.
“This One’s for the President” is the debut album by Cypriot blues-rockers, The Zilla Project. The band consists of Emmanuel “Big Mo” Vourakis on vocals and guitars, Nicolas “Honeyman” Melis on keyboards, Lou Paphitis on bass and Stefanos “Medicine Man” Meletiou on the drums.
After paying their dues, like every band should, this 4-piece group presents its experiences, talent and bare soul in the best way it knows how – on 11 powerful tracks. The album was produced by Emmanuel Vourakis, masterfully recorded and mixed at Eleven63 studio by Andreas Trachonitis and Mikaela Tsangari and co-produced by Lefteris Moumtzis.
The album consists of 9 original songs, two of which are instrumental, and two covers – “Death Letter” by resonator master Son House and Janis Joplin’s renowned “Mercedes Benz”. Although the songs differ in style, the overall result is unified by the band’s unique take on American, blues-based music.
The Zilla Project is an unassuming, 6-year-old band that doesn’t try to impress but ends up doing it anyway with their debut work, “This One’s for the President”.
