Cartel Land - A Film About Violence and Self-Defense in Mexico

Ongoing violence by drug cartels and organized crime in Mexico has pushed the country to the bottom of the Global Peace Index. U.S. filmmaker Mathew Heineman has produced a documentary, "Cartel Land", that explores initiatives on the grassroots levels such as the self-defense militias in the state of Michoacan that seek to defend communities against such violence and the role of the Mexican government in dealing with such phenomenon.
