Police executions in Brazil, and homemade soda in Syria

A weekly news show produced with photos, videos and personal accounts from France 24 Observers around the world - all checked by our staff here in Paris.
Story 1: Brazil
We begin with a disturbing video from Brazil, the northeastern Maranhao state. It shows a man in military-style fatigues killing - in cold blood - a man who had tried to run a police roadblock. It's raising questions about the state of law enforcement in Maranhao, where activists say there have been around 60 police shootings since the beginning of the year.

Story 2: Syria
Now imagine if you're living in a city where your government bombs you on a daily basis, and the people coming to help you are brutal Islamist rebels. Food and drink are scarce - and the prices exorbitant. What do you do? Well, if you're in the Syrian city of Eastern Ghouta you make soda, and you call it Ghouta Dry.
