Bangladesh: A bank account for child labourers

To mark World Day Against Child Labour, we head to Bangladesh where the phenomenon is a fact of life for many poor families. Authorities have decided to tackle the problem in a pragmatic, even fatalistic way. They take the view that they can't eradicate child labour, but can at least allow the children to save some of their earnings. For the past year, child workers have therefore been able to open special savings accounts. In the long run, these accounts may help lift them out of poverty.
