Unidentified gunmen shot dead a prominent Iranian banker at a parking lot in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, according to a report by the Star Online. Three men waited for Hussain Ahmad Najadi and his wife outside Kuan Yin Chinese temple around 2pm, according to police officials.

Najadi, founder of the Arab Malaysian Banking Group, and his wife made their way to their car, when they were confronted by an armed man who fired several rounds at the couple.

The suspect and his two accomplices fled the scene in a taxi bearing a bogus registration number. 75-year-old Najadi was shot in chest and left rib cage and died instantly. His wife sustained injuries to her hand and right thigh, but is in a stable condition at a local hospital.

Police have yet to ascertain the suspect's motives, but believe the incident may have been business-related.
