A 23-year-old has been arrested after the dead body of a 15-year-old girl was found in a suitcase in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ng Yuk Tim and the suspect reportedly met on the Internet via social media.

According to sources, Ng left her house at about 11 a.m. on Monday, and went to the suspect's house in Kelana Jaya to work on cosplay costumes for an upcoming event, the Star reported.

The suspect allegedly attempted to rape her, and when she reacted by biting and scratching him, he struck her with a dumbbell. She died on the spot. He then hid her body inside a suitcase. Police believe the suspect used his van to transport the body and dump it at the side of a road in Jalan Kebun Nenas.

According to reports, the suitcase was found at around 10 pm after police interrogated the suspect for several hours at the Petaling Jaya police station.

The man initially claimed to have dropped Ng off at the Kelana Jaya LRT station at about 3.30 p.m., before confessing to the crime.

"There were slash marks and bleeding on the head and hands of the victim," Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said as quoted by the Sun Daily. "The suspect is believed to have murdered the victim in his house at Kelana Jaya, about 12 hours earlier before dumping the body."

Police also went to the suspect's home and seized his van to gather further evidence.

Ng's body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.
