Murder in Massachusetts: Police have released the name of the teenager they believe killed school teacher Colleen Ritzer—14-year-old Phillip Chism. The teenager was charged with murder on Wednesday as an adult during his arraignment at Salem District Court.

New information on the 24-year-old Danvers High School maths teacher's murder on Tuesday has come to light in recent hours.

According to a Fox News report, Chism admitted to police that he followed the Ritzer into a female bathroom at Danvers High School and there punched her, before stabbing and killing her with a box cutter.

Around 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday a member of Ritzer's family reported her missing to police after she failed to return home after classes.

During a search of the campus later that night police found blood splattered throughout the second floor bathroom.

At 12.30 p.m. police spotted the boy walking along a highway and apprehended him. After questioning, Chism led officers to woods behind the school where he says he dumped the body.

Security camera footage shows Chism moving recycling bin through the school. Police believe Chism used the bin to transport Ritzer's body to the woods.

Ritzer is said to know Chism, a student at the high school, though the extent of their relationship is unknown.

Chism, a skilled 6-foot-2 soccer player has been described by fellow students as a normal kid who adjusted to life at his new school well. He had recently moved to the area from Tennessee.
