At least two people were killed and several others wounded during a shooting at a barbershop in Detroit on Wednesday evening.

The shop where the shooting took place is renowned for gambling, but the Detroit Police Chief said that it was too early to tell whether that played a role in the shooting.

Reports said that the gunman arrived outside Al's Barbers on the 5200 block of East Seven Mile Road at around 6:00 p.m. before firing several shots at or inside the building.

According to witnesses, the shooter then waited for people to come out of the building before opening fire. Other reports suggested there may have been more than one gunman.

Some of the victims may have fired back at the shooters. Police are looking for two vehicles. A white Chevrolet Impala with a broken window and bullet holes, as well as a black vehicle of the same description."

According to Reuters, "John Zakar, 26, said he was working at the Riviera Party Shoppe when he heard about 20 shots ring out about a block away and three wounded people ran into his store and hid."

"I locked the door behind them and applied pressure to the wounds," Zakar said in a telephone interview. "We didn't let the people shooting come in and shoot."
