Paul Walker killed in Porsche Carrera GT crash
  • 9 years ago
Paul Walker, who co-starred with Vin Diesel in the Fast and Furious film franchise, and got to hang out with a bikini clad Jessica Alba on the set of Into the Blue, died in a fiery car crash, along with his friend Roger Rodas, in Valencia California on November 30th. Walker was taking time off from the set of Fast and Furious 7 to attend an event hosted by his charity, the Out Reach Worldwide organization. The event was meant to raise funds for disaster relief in the Philippines following typhoon Haiyan.

After first posing for photos in front of his friend's red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, Walker and Rodas set off for the event in that same car. The crash that killed the pair happened on Rye Canyon Loop, within earshot of Rodas' children who were still at his garage. Relatives and friends of both ran over to try and pull the men from the burning car, but the flames were too intense and firefighters had to restrain them. Fans have been laying flowers at the crash site, saying personal goodbyes to a star whose popularity was near its peak. Comparisons have been made between Paul Walker and 50's sex symbol James Dean, who also died in a car crash. Although Walker was 40 years old at the time of his death, his image was that of a young, fast driving, rebel. He will be remembered as such thanks to his numerous action films which will continue to be enjoyed by fans for years to come.
