Tuesday saw the bloodiest day in Ukraine's months-long demonstrations as clashes between protesters and riot police 25 people dead and over 240 injured.

Unrest in Kiev has reached volatile levels and images coming out of the country's capital paint a gruesome picture.

Washington condemned the violence and urged the Ukrainian government to resumed political discussions with the opposition and European leaders have moved toward placing targeted sanctions on Ukraine.
