Caught on video: Arizona cop Sean Pearce T-bone's driver, could face manslaughter charges

A camera in Glendale, California captured a police officer killing an elderly man while speeding through a neighborhood at twice the legal speed limit in mid-December last year.

Officer Sean Pearce was travelling northbound on 59th Avenue in an unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe on December 16 at 1pm. 63-year-old John Edward Harding driving a Nissan Cube and was on Hayward Ave, turning left onto 59th Avenue southbound.

He was side-swiped by Pearce who stated that Harding was looking the other direction and did not see his vehicle.

Pearce was in pursuit of a homicide suspect who was said to be several miles away on 67th Avenue. The vehicle data recorder registered the Tahoe's speed at 81 MPH just seconds before the crash occurred in the 40 mph speed zone. His vehicle was not equipped with police lights or sirens.

Harding was running errands that day and was taken to a hospital where he later died. He is survived by his wife and son. Pearce was treated for minor injuries.

Glendale police have not released a statement of any charges brought forth against Pearce but speaking on behalf of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Jerry Cobb reportedly said "the submitted charge is manslaughter."
