Houston Astros prospect Delino DeShields Jr.'s face swelled up like a balloon on Friday after he was hit in the face with a 90 mph fastball.

DeShields is the Astros seventh-ranked prospect and plays for their minor-league farm team, the Corpus Christi Hooks.

He was up to bat in the top of the seventh inning when Frisco Rough Riders pitcher Phil Klein threw a 90 mph fastball that slipped away from him, striking DeShields in the face.

The 21-year-old took it like a champ and walked himself off the field, but will sit out a few games as he recovers. He suffered a fractured cheekbone and posed for several light-hearted photos documenting his recovery that were posted to Twitter.

Delino DeShields Jr. is the son of 13-year MLB veteran Delino DeShields Sr. and was the eighth overall pick during the 2010 draft. Deshields is currently batting .259 has two home runs this season.
