Kenya bomb blast: Twin explosions strike Mombasa in possible al-Shabab attack

At least three people were killed and more than 20 wounded in a grenade blast along the coast of Kenya on Saturday, according to a Reuters report.
The attack reportedly targeted a bus that had just arrived in the port city of Mombasa from the capital Nairobi.
"The attackers were riding on a motor bike, and lobbed the grenade at the crowd of people at the bus terminus," said Nelson Marwa, Mombasa county commissioner, according to the report.
Due to conflicting accounts, it is unclear whether the grenade was thrown into the crowded bus or whether the explosive was lobbed at passengers boarding the vehicle at the busy Mwembe Tayari transport terminal.
Despite efforts on the part of authorities to quell a recent wave of terrorist attacks, the deadly blast was one of two explosions in Mombasa that day.
A separate blast at a luxury hotel left no injuries or casualties.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for either incident, but Kenyan authorities have blamed similar attacks on al-Qaeda-linked Somali group al-Shabab, who were responsible for last September's attack on Nairobi's Westgate shopping mall, which left at least 67 people dead.
