Rare twins: Shocking paternity test reveals twin girls share mother, but NOT father - TomoNews

The mother of these two twins girls filed a petition for child support and the court ordered a paternity test.

Test results showed that the mother was only half right. One of the twins shared DNA with the man the mother thought was the father of the twins, but the other twin did not.

It’s an extremely rare case where a woman gives birth to fraternal twins by two fathers. It’s called heteropaternal dizygotic twins and occurs only when a woman releases two eggs simultaneously and the eggs become fertilized by two different men.

Bipaternal twins are extremely rare but have been on the rise in recent years, possible reasons may be due to more advanced reproductive technologies, ovulation induction, more sexual freedom for women and other factors.

A judge ruled that the father in question only has to pay child support for one of the twins. Now, who is this other lucky fellow?
