Self defence: Georgia woman shoots intruders pretending to be East Point police

A Georgia woman defended her East Point apartment from would-be burglars early Thursday morning by firing a handgun at them.
According to reports, three people approached the victim's Laurel Ridge apartment door just after midnight. They identified themselves as members of the East Point Police Department.
When the resident cracked the door enough to peek outside, the three men attempted to push their way in. Police say one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the woman, who was also armed to protect herself.
The woman shot first, grazing the head of one of the intruders and scaring off the others. The would-be burglars fled the scene, but police caught up with one, a juvenile who caught some metal.
The boy was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his head and back.
Neighbors told WSBTV they've seen a surge in break-ins recently, with as many as six in the past week.
"I just hope the boy is OK," said his would-be victim, who wished her to conceal her identity.
