Man with dead girlfriend in car continues driving for 24 HOURS

A man who was driving from Arizona to Michigan decided to complete the long journey even after he discovered his 31-year-old girlfriend had died in the seat next to him. The corpse ended up remaining inside the vehicle with the 62-year-old Ray Tomlinson and his 93-year-old mother for another 24 hours before police got involved.

According to Tomlinson, he was driving his 31-year-old girlfriend back to Michigan from an Arizona mental facility earlier this week. Early on in the trip, they stopped at a gas station, where the officials suspect the girlfriend went into the bathroom and took too many Oxycodone pills. Tomlinson said somewhere after they passed through Texas or Oklahoma, he tried to nudge his girlfriend awake, only to discover that she was dead — most likely of an overdose.

Not wanting to call authorities and leave her so far from home, Tomlinson said he did some research on his phone, and figured he had 48 hours to get her to a morgue. At one point, the Arizona mental facility where his girlfriend had been staying called to check on her condition, and Tomlinson told them that she couldn't talk because ... she was dead. The caller urged Tomlinson to call police, he later said he didn't because he was afraid they would arrest him and take his van.

When they finally made it back home a day later, police arrived at Tomlinson's home to find him sobbing on the curb, his dead girlfriend still in the passenger seat, and his elderly mother in a wheelchair in the back of the vehicle.
