Oregon school shooting: student gunman Jared Padgett was gun-obsessed

Jared Michael Padgett, the 15-year-old gunman who killed a fellow student at Reynolds High School in Portland Oregon on Tuesday was reportedly a gun-obsessive who became furious with his classmates during a presentation he gave in class about Hitler just a week before the shooting.
According to a police statement, Padgett used an AR-15 rifle owned by his family that he obtained after removing it from its secured storage place in the family home. In addition to the AR-15 rifle, he also carried nine full magazines capable of holding several hundred rounds, a handgun and a large knife.
Padgett arrived at school yesterday morning on the school bus. He then entered the boys' locker room in the building that housed the school gymnasium where he murdered fellow student, Emilio Hoffman. Teacher Todd Rispler encountered Padgett in the locker room. As he was fleeing, Mr. Rispler was shot once, suffering a graze to his hip. Mr. Rispler was able to get to the school's office to initiate the lockdown process.
Padgett encountered police officers who were starting to enter from two separate doorways as he was moving through the main hallway. He exchanged gunfire with one of the officers. Then he made his way into a small restroom where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
