A schizophrenic man was refused help hours before using a baseball bat to injure a person and kill two others at their residence at Tavares on Monday evening, it's alleged. The man then killed himself.

James Earl Jones, 32, has been in and out of treatment, taking different medication for years. His father told the police during an investigation that his son was turned away several times by LifeStream, a local behavioral treatment center, after they assessed his situation ... a few hours before Jones Jr. attacked his girlfriend.

Shannon Ratliff, 42, called her mother for help later that day from their house because Jones, "he wouldn't let her out," according to her family. Her mother, 66-year-old Mavis Ratliff and 51-year-old brother, Eddie Ratliff, rushed to help, but were brutally attacked.

Jones' girlfriend was found dead in the house with a massive open head wound. Her mother, later found lying on the ground outside the house was rushed to the hospital nearby, but passed away soon after, while her brother, remains in critical condition after surgery.

Jones ran away from the scene after police arrived and ordered him to drop the bat. He was seen standing in the front yard with the bat in his hand and blood all over his body.
He bolted after complying with police's order.

His body was found floating in the nearby Lake Dora, presumably having drown himself.
