Flight delayed: Pakistani politicians booted off a plane by angry passengers

Here’s the line we all dread:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we know you’ve been waiting for take-off for a couple of hours now, but we just got word from the tower that we’ll be delayed a bit longer. Thank you, and thank you for choosing Misery Airlines.”

To be fair to airlines, air travel has gotten a whole lot busier over the decades and yes, the insanely crowded skies means some delays are unavoidable.

But while most of us might be inclined to forgive a delay due to weather conditions or scheduling delays, most of us would probably be furious our your plane was delayed for over two hours so a couple politicians could make the flight.

On Monday, Pakistani politicians Rehman Malik and Dr. Ramesh Vankwani were thrown off a Pakistan Airlines flight after passengers decided THEY were the reason their flight was delayed.

The passengers’ anger demonstrates people’s frustrations with perceived special treatment doled out to the rich and powerful in Pakistan.

The airline and the politicians denied allegations of special treatment and suspended ground staff, blaming them for the delay. For many in Pakistan, though, that excuse isn’t gonna fly.
