UPS shooting: fired employee shoots two supervisors, then takes own life

A shooting that took place at a United Parcel Service (UPS) customer service center in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday left three people dead, including the shooter, according to multiple reports and police.
The suspect shot and killed two male UPS employees who were “supervisor, upper-rank individuals,” Birmingham Police Department’s public information officer Lt. Sean Edwards cited the company as saying. The shooter then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
Although police did not immediately reveal the identity of the shooter, local media reports and local residents identified him as 45-year-old Joe Tesney, who had reportedly been fired from the UPS facility the day before.
Reports of shots fired at the facility were called into police at around 9:21 a.m., said Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper.
Roper added that the assailant was wearing a UPS uniform, and had driven onto the lot in a private vehicle. Police did not specify what car the suspect was driving, but a dark red Honda SUV was seen being towed from the scene after the incident.
The suspect entered the facility through one of the truck loading docks, local media reported. At the time, roughly 80 drivers had already left on their routes, but there were still a small number of employees at the scene.
No one else was reportedly injured in the incident.
