Oklahoma stabbing: suspect tried to convert colleagues to Islam

A man beheaded a colleague at a food processing plant in Moore, Oklahoma and stabbed another co-worker before he was shot and wounded by the company’s executive on Thursday afternoon.
According to the New York Times, the suspect, 30-year-old Alton Nolen, drove to the main entrance of Vaughn Foods in Moore, hit another vehicle and entered the front office where he stabbed and beheaded a 54-year-old front office worker Colleen Hufford.
After killing the first victim, Nolen went through the front office and the shipping office and then attacked a 43-year-old worker Traci Johnson in the customer service department, KFOR reported. The chief operating officer of the company, Mark Vaughan, who is also an Oklahoma County reserve deputy, reportedly shot him multiple times with a rifle while he was stabbing the second victim, according to 13WMAZ.
Alton Nolen has a criminal history, and had just been fired from the company. He had tried to convert some of his co-workers to Islam before he was fired, the New York Times reported.
The F.B.I. has launched an investigation into Nolen’s background and they have not yet found any connection between him and the Islamic State, according to KFOR.com.
