Man bites head off live hamster: PETA trying to "track down" frat boy after video goes viral

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals -- better known as PETA -- is trying to track down the young man who bit the head off a live hamster.

Someone posted the video to Youtube, but it was quickly removed due to its violation of community codes.

In the video, the man pulls a wriggling hamster from its carrying bag and swiftly bites off its head. He then spits the head out, tosses the rest of the hamster and yells triumphantly into the camera.

"Often, humans and animals are abused at the same time," PETA cruelty caseworker Stephanie Bell told Daily Mail online. "For example, the guy who kicks the family dog is likely abusing his spouse and children too. Cruelty to animals is always a red flag."

Viewers took to Twitter to support PETA.

"@peta PLEASE find the sicko from FSU who bit the head off that hamster!!" one person wrote.

Florida State University has not confirmed the man belongs to a fraternity at the university.

Bell also said PETA is "working to track him down and prosecute."
