Cuban President Raul Castro met with Pope Francis at the Vatican in a rare Sunday papal audience. Following a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, President Castro praised the Pope for defending the poor and thanked him for easing relations with the United States. The 83-year-old Cuban leader said that he was so impressed with the Pope’s actions that he just might return to the church, in keeping with recent changes made by the Communist Party of Cuba. teleSUR
