Victory Day celebrations will be held shortly in Russia, marking the 70th anniversary of the surrender of Nazi Germany. Although many Western leaders are boycotting the event due to tensions with Russia over the Ukraine, Chinese Leader Xi Jinping will be participating. Earlier, he met with President Vladimir Putin to sign several documents bolstering strategic ties between the two countries, including an alliance between major energy companies. One of the Latin American leaders in Moscow for the anniversary is Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who arrived today. He is one of 27 Heads of State that will march in the victory parade on Saturday. Upon expressing his thanks to the President Putin for the invitation, Maduro stressed Venezuela’s commitment to continue to fight all forms of colonialism, neo-colonialism, imperialism and all forms of domination. Recent outbreaks of neo-fascism have been met with a struggle for justice in Venezuela, he said. teleSUR
