The latest cover of TIME magazine features a photo taken during the Baltimore riots along with the text ‘America 1968,’ only the year has been crossed out and replaced with 2015. 

1968 was, of course, a year of particularly great protest activity and high racial tensions.

It was also the year that Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. 

Overall, the juxtaposition raises questions about whether or not America has made progress in matters of race equality and relations since the 1960s.
