Woman comes back to life at funeral, dies again after waking up in coffin after being buried alive

An unidentified woman was reportedly buried alive and heard screaming and banging from inside her coffin in a Greek cemetery on Thursday.
The 45-year-old was declared dead by doctors treating her for cancer. Shortly after the last of her relatives left the cemetery after her burial at the graveyard in Peraia, a small town 16 miles south of Thessaloniki, the woman reportedly woke up and started banging and screaming inside the coffin.
Nearby residents and children reportedly heard her shouting for help from inside the grave and called the authorities. Cemetery workers desperately ploughed the fresh grave to unearth the woman, but she had apparently suffocated to death inside the coffin.
However, a doctor who examined the woman’s body said he found her to be in a state of rigor mortis and found no evidence of asphyxiation in the coffin.
“I just don’t believe it,” Chrissi Matsikoudi told a local TV news station, according to the Telegraph. “We did several tests including one for heart failure on the body.”
Matsikoudi said would not have been possible for “someone in a state of rigor mortis to have been shouting and hitting the coffin like that.”
Relatives of the woman are said to be considering suing the doctors responsible.
