A Chicago teen was arrested on Saturday by FBI agents after he allegedly tried to travel to the Middle East to join the Islamic State.

It was reported by CBS Chicago that 19-year-old Chicago teen Mohammed Hamzah Khan allegedly bought a ticket to Istanbul, Turkey via Vienna, Austria on Saturday.

He also reportedly bought a return ticket on Wednesday from Istanbul to Zurich, Switzerland, and then back to Chicago even though he had planned to stay in the Middle East permanently.

Khan was arrested at O’Hare International Airport after he passed through security, CNN reported. Federal agents also obtained a search warrant for his home, where they allegedly found hand-written documents that stated his will to join the Islamic State as well as a drawing of the Islamic State flag, according to CBS Chicago.

Khan has been charged with attempting to support terrorism, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, CBS Chicago reported.
