Ebola in Brazil? First patient hospitalized in Cascavel with Ebola-like symptoms

A 47-year-old man from Guinea has been hospitalized in Brazil after showing Ebola-like symptoms.
The man arrived in Brazil after travelling from Guinea via Morocco.
According to BBC Brasil, some 20 days after leaving West Africa, he developed a high fever. He did not show any other symptoms, like vomiting or internal hemorrhaging.
As the man came from Guinea, one of the countries most stricken by Ebola, he was taken to an isolation ward at a hospital in the city of Cascavel on the suspicion that he may have contracted the virus.
Patients in the unit who had contact with the man were also quarantined, while others were transferred to another hospital as a precaution.
According to the O Dia Brasil newspaper, the man will be soon transferred by Brazilian federal police plane to a hospital in Rio de Janeiro where more tests will be carried out.
Since the end of 2013, the Ebola epidemic has spread across the West African countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and Senegal. The death toll currently stands at around 3,900 people.
Ebola has an incubation period of up to 21 days. Symptoms include high fever, diarrhea and vomiting.
The mortality rate of the current epidemic is at more than 50 percent.
